(I can grab the shaft and wiggle it around quite a bit - the result of the 'looseness' in the shaft is about a 3/16' wobble on the rim of a 7-1/4' blade. You may update older tools by using ALL of the 'new' parts together. Old parts and new parts are not interchangeable. If your tool has position 87 Spring Washer, you may use the 'old' part numbers for repairs. It is lighter than most of the other saws out there and the blade guard works well.
